River Thames garden bridge plans approved

Controversial plans for a £175m garden bridge across the River Thames have been granted planning permission from Westminster City Council.

It is a significant step forward for what could be the world's most expensive footbridge.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson will make the final decision.

BBC London's environment correspondent Tom Edwards spoke to bridge designer Thomas Heatherwick, Conservative councillor Robert Davis from Westminster Council and Jeremy Cross from Thames Central Open Space.
