New London Air Ambulance takes off

A second helicopter has taken to the skies for London Air Ambulance on its first emergency call-out.

The helicopter was paid for by donations and by £1m the government raised through fines on the banking industry, and will provide backup when the existing one needs maintenance.

BBC London correspondent Karl Mercer spoke to Mark Vickers, chair of London Air Ambulance trustees, about what it will mean.

He also heard from Captain Andy Thomson, a pilot with the ambulance, and Andy Holmes, a policeman who was helped after a serious car crash near Heathrow.
