Bank note helps Holocaust survivor reunite with her liberator

A Jewish woman who was saved nearly 75 years ago after surviving Auschwitz - has met the family of the soldier who liberated her.

Lily Ebert lost her mother, brothers and sister in the death camp where more than a million people were murdered by the Nazis.

Nearly eight decades later, she met the American family of the soldier who liberated her from a death march - after her great grandson traced them from a bank note which had been given to her by the soldier.

The note was inscribed with the message: "A start to a new life. Good luck and happiness. Assistant to Chaplain Schacter."
