Goose shot with arrow 'lucky to be alive'
A goose is "lucky to be alive" after it was shot with a 31-inch (78cm) arrow, missing its heart by millimetres, the RSPCA said.
The male bird was spotted at a lake in Hazel Grove, Greater Manchester, by a member of the public on Monday.
After spending more than an hour coaxing the goose to safety, officers removed the arrow.
It is now on painkillers and antibiotics while it recovers at Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre in Cheshire.
