Fashion on the Ration exhibition of World War Two clothes

A new exhibition at the Imperial War Museum North in Salford commemorates the 75th anniversary of the introduction of clothes rationing.

Fashion on the Ration: 1940s Street Style opens on 27 May and explores how fashion survived under the strict rules of wartime rationing.

It features a wide range of original men's and women's clothing from the era, including military uniforms and a bridesmaid's dress made from parachute material.
