When gardening tackles gang culture

Max Maxamed decided to start a gardening scheme after seeing a friend die in a shooting.

The 22-year-old said it motivated him to improve opportunities in Manchester by using horticulture "as a viable vocation".

He is among a group of young leaders who have won funding and mentorship, including Roukagia Afan, aged 20, who wants to raise the profile of female Muslim role models.
