Eddie Gilfoyle: Withholding wife's diaries 'disgraceful'

A man convicted of murdering his wife has said a police decision to withhold her diaries from his trial was "disgraceful".

Eddie Gilfoyle was given a life sentence in 1993 for killing his wife Paula, who was found hanged while heavily pregnant in the garage of their home in Upton, Wirral.

He served 18 years in jail and was released on parole in 2010.

It has emerged that police held two of Mrs Gilfoyle's diaries which allegedly show she had suicidal thoughts.

Gilfoyle said if he had known about the diaries, he would have told the police about them.
