Prime Minister David Cameron says Liverpool is not being "unfairly treated" in respect to spending cuts, which he says are the same as the national average.
He said spending this year in the city was £602.7m, which was £21.7m higher than last year.
Spending in Liverpool will be reduced by 1.3% in 2013, the same as the England average, Mr Cameron told BBC Radio Merseyside's Roger Phillips.
