Campaign to save Lyndale School in Wirral

Parents of children at a special school in Wirral have vowed to fight proposals to close it after the council said it is no longer financially viable.

The Lyndale School in Eastham caters for children with severe learning difficulties aged between two and 11.

Wirral Council said a fall in pupil numbers and budget cuts meant it could no longer afford to keep it open.

It costs up to £26,000 per child per year and the school currently has 23 pupils, about half the number of children it could take.
