William Shakespeare's connection to Knowsley Hall

Ahead of next month's 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death, it has been revealed that a Merseyside family played an important role in the Bard's success.

The 16th Century Earl of Derby, based at Knowsley Hall, and his family were enthusiastic sponsors of the arts at the time.
