Liverpool's new £400m container terminal opens
The world's biggest container vessels can now dock in Liverpool with the opening of the port's new £400m terminal, three years after the project was started.
The deep sea terminal Liverpool Two facility means large container lines can now choose the city as a destination over southern ports such as Felixstowe for the first time.
The development is expected to create 1,000 new jobs in the area and up to 5,000 more in the wider supply chain according to site owners Peel Port.
