Addenbrooke's team should 'be encouraged to innovate'
A team at Addenbrookes's Hospital in Cambridge has carried out more than 1,000 operations on men with prostate cancer using a £1.4m robotic arm.
But they are having to fundraise for the service, despite high success rates and shorter hospital stays after the procedure.
Now a report from the Royal College of Surgeons says health providers such as the team at Addenbrooke's should be given incentives to innovate.
It says the NHS should encourage new treatments and pay for new equipment.
