Delapre Abbey restoration in Northampton nears completion

More than £500,000 of funding is needed to complete the restoration of Delapre Abbey in Northampton.

It's in addition to the extra £930,000 the borough council gave the project last year. It brings the total cost close to £8m.

The borough council's cabinet has been asked to agree to the extra funding, which could be up to £650,000 after unexpected delays to the project.

The abbey's opening has been put back several times, but once open it is hoped it will become a major tourist attraction.
