Gurkhas welcomed to Nottinghamshire

About 60 Gurkha veterans and their families have been welcomed to Nottinghamshire with a special ceremony.

The civic reception, which included renditions of traditional Gurkha songs, was held at County Hall in Nottingham on Saturday.

The veterans have been offered English language and basic computer courses to help them settle into the county following a £5,000 government grant.

BBC East Midlands Today's Carol Hinds spoke to councillor John Allin, chairman of the county council and Gurkha veteran Halkam Sing Dewan.
