Nottingham gets £6m to improve safety as cycle casualty figures rise

Nottingham has been given £6m government funding to improve its cycle routes and cycle-safety record.

Campaigners had claimed the city was too dangerous for cyclists after a woman was killed in the city centre as she rode to work.

The council said the number of casualties had increased on the roads as the number of cyclists has risen by a third in recent years.
