First Responder: 'Father's death hit me so suddenly'

The daughter of a journalist who died suddenly four years ago said her father's death inspired her to support the ambulance service.

Emily Snow was 16 when her father Peter - who worked for BBC East Midlands Today - suffered a cardiac arrest while cycling in 2012.

Ms Snow has been part of the Trent District Community First Responders, who support East Midlands Ambulance Service, for two years.

Now the group that she co-founded, which is celebrating its first anniversary, is trying to raise £10,000 to double the amount of defibrillators they have.

"At that age you don't have death in your life very often. That hit me so suddenly," Ms Snow said. "I learned how important it was to have that first response."
