Nottingham's UK-first social eating aim

Nottingham is aiming to bring communities together and stamp out isolation - by bidding to become the UK's first social eating city.

The city council's project entails working with Super Kitchens - a network of social eating spaces that brings people together and uses food that would otherwise be wasted.

There are currently 20 not-for-profit Super Kitchens operating in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including the Crocus Cafe.

Councillors said they make a "big difference to community spirit".
