Free doggy bags tackling food waste in Oxfordshire

Restaurants in Oxfordshire are being given free doggy bags from the county council to help tackle the problem of food waste.

The cost to a restaurant of each plate of food thrown away is thought to be £1 because of the price involved in disposing of the waste.

Now restaurants are being given free recyclable boxes, encouraging people to take home their leftovers.

The move has been welcomed by both diners and the restaurants involved.
