Somerset fisherman aids native crayfish survival

American crayfish, which were introduced into British waters in the 1970s, have now almost entirely destroyed the native species.

Since American signal crayfish were introduced into the wild, white-clawed crayfish numbers have decreased dramatically and are now endangered.

But a Somerset fisherman, Ivor Stinchcombe, thinks he's come up with a way of helping to resolve the problem by starting selling them as food to local restaurants and in local markets.

BBC Points West's Ali Vowles reports.
