Half a million starlings join murmuration on Somerset Levels

Record numbers of starlings are roosting on the Somerset Levels this winter, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has said.

The charity estimated this year's larger flock consisted of about "half a million" birds at its Ham Wall nature reserve.

And explained the bigger numbers could be due to the colder weather in Russia where the starlings had come from.
