Wrong way M-way driver in Somerset caught on dashcam

A driver who went the wrong way on the M5 motorway before crashing into several cars on Tuesday evening was filmed on a dashcam.

The footage shows the terrifying moment a man aged in his 80s drove his car northbound in the outside lane of the southbound carriageway towards oncoming traffic, travelling at about 70mph.

Avon and Somerset Police said no-one was seriously injured even though the car did collide with a number of vehicles. The elderly man is in hospital where he is being treated for minor injuries.

The M5 was closed southbound between Taunton and Bridgwater while police cleared the carriageway.
