Moment car owner injured as vehicle taken in Doncaster

The moment a car was taken as its owner fought to stop the thief behind the wheel has been captured on CCTV.

The video shows the man, apparently de-icing his windscreen with the engine running, pop into a nearby house just seconds before another man gets in the vehicle.

The car then reverses with the door open, slamming the stricken owner into a wall before driving off.

A 31-year-old man was seriously injured during the incident on Warde Avenue in Doncaster on 6 December, police said.

South Yorkshire Police said he was taken to hospital with injuries which required surgery.

The black Vauxhall has since been recovered and police appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
