Ipswich Chord £59m rail link nears completion

Rail minister Stephen Hammond has visited a new rail link which will take thousands of freight containers off the road.

He said the Ipswich Chord, which is due to open on 31 March, was one of the most important pieces of government investment in the eastern region.

The link between Felixstowe and Ipswich cost £59m and will allow freight trains to travel directly from Felixstowe to the Midlands.
