'WW1' flute has charm of its own, says musician

A flute believed to have been created in the trenches during World War One is to be played in public for the first time in at least 50 years.

Andrew Fairley, 74, of Felixstowe in Suffolk, bought the instrument from a junk shop in 1963.

He told Kevin Burch it had taken quite a while to sort out the flute's "quirky fingering" but that it had a charm of its own.

He will play it as part of a concert in Woodbridge on Sunday.
