Go-ahead for Ipswich's £3.6m Cornhill revamp

A vision to transform a town centre has been approved

Ipswich Borough councillors said the budget for the regeneration of the Cornhill in Ipswich could increase from £3.2m to £3.6m, if its £200,000 additional investment is match-funded.

Critics have called the whole project a waste of money, although the project was originated after the existing square was described as "a bit shabby" by former Marks & Spencer boss Lord Rose.
