Volunteers who nursed WW1 wounded

At the outbreak of World War One many thousands of men signed up to fight, but less well known are the stories of volunteers, many of them women, who supported the soldiers.

Susan Richmond was one of them - after the death of her own boyfriend she gave up a successful career as an actress to tend wounded soldiers on the Western Front.

Her daughter, Brigid Wells, from Lewes, tells BBC South East how she treasures a photo of her mother taken during the war.
