Campaigners protest at Pondtail Wood destruction

Protesters said they are appalled at the destruction of ancient woods in West Sussex where trees are being felled and burnt.

The South Downs National Park Authority has issued an order to stop any more trees at Pondtail Wood, north of Brighton, being destroyed.

Local people and environmental campaigners have held a demonstration at the site.

The BBC has attempted to contact the owner of the wood, Wineham Properties Ltd, at its offices in Henfield but has received no reply.
