Bognor arcade burglar caught hiding behind machines

A burglar who was caught hiding behind a gaming machine in an arcade has been given a suspended sentence.

Police were called to an amusement arcade on Bognor Pier, West Sussex, in the early hours of 29 August after an intruder alarm was activated.

The front doors had been forced open and numerous machines broken into.

There was no trace of a suspect until officers heard the sound of coins coming from behind one of the machines and arrested the burglar.

Tristram Francis, 40, from Marshall Avenue, Bognor, pleaded guilty to burglary charges at Lewes Crown Court on 27 November.

He was sentenced to 14 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
