Suppliers count the cost of Teesside steel shutdown

Hundreds of suppliers to the stricken SSI iron and steel plant on Teesside are already counting the cost of the shutdown and wondering if their outstanding bills will now be paid.

The Thai owners, SSI, announced they were mothballing the plant on Monday.

Peterson Engineering in Redcar has supplied SSI with machine components for the last three years and says it is now owed more than £150,000,

Peterson's director, Neil Doyle, says the very future of his business is now under threat.
