Ali Brownlee: Thousands say goodbye to 'Voice of the Boro'

Thousands of people gathered for the funeral of BBC Tees presenter Ali Brownlee, who became known as the 'Voice of the Boro'.

He died from bowel cancer last week at the age of 56.

His death prompted a huge emotional reaction from Middlesbrough fans who have since transformed the old gates at the Riverside Stadium into a sea of red and white scarves in his memory.

The funeral cortege passed slowly through the centre of Middlesbrough, stopping briefly in front of thousands of fans inside the Riverside Stadium, before going on to St Mary's Church in Acklam for a private family funeral.
