Darlington dad's charity providing football kit in memory of son

Harvey McWilliams was a budding young footballer who took his own life at the age of 18 in 2021.

His father Michael set up a foundation in his name, which has recently celebrated its first anniversary.

The foundation provides football kits, boots, and equipment to young people from poorer households to ensure no-one misses out on being able to play.

"It's really comforting for us that Harvey is still helping those out there," said Mr McWilliams.

Chilton Academy made use of the foundation to get equipment and provide gloves and boots to some of its Community Football Club members.

"We want to make football for everyone, but the strain on financial budgets makes it unachievable for some in our community and I don't think we're unique in that," said Chilton Academy's Kevin McMullan.
