Frankie and the Heartstrings record shop success

A pop-up record shop which was opened by a band in Sunderland for two weeks has been so successful it is still open 10 months later.

Frankie and the Heartstrings opened Pop Recs Ltd in June, after becoming "alarmed" by the lack of record shops in which to sell their second album.

Now Franz Ferdinand have played at the shop after the band also decided to hold in-store gigs.

Singer Alex Kapranos said it was "too good an opportunity to miss".
