Army dog Sasha awarded posthumous medal
A dog killed alongside her handler in Afghanistan has been honoured with a posthumous medal.
Four-year-old yellow Labrador Sasha, was killed along with L/Cpl Kenneth Rowe from Newcastle, in July 2008 when they were ambushed on patrol in Kandahar.
Sasha is the 65th recipient of the animal charity PDSA's Dickin Medal - the animal equivalent of the Victoria Cross.
Sasha is credited with saving many soldiers' lives in Afghanistan by sniffing out weapons and explosives.
