Seaham bids to buy sculpture on loan to the town

Residents of a town in County Durham are trying to raise £85,000 to buy a sculpture that has attracted visitors from miles around.

The steel statue, made by local artist Ray Lonsdale, has been on loan to Seaham but has been such a hit residents do not want to see it go.

There was a similar campaign by Scarborough residents in 2011 to buy another Lonsdale sculpture loaned to their town.
