Great North Run celebrations planned for Tyne banks

Hundreds of volunteers have signed up to take part in the Great North Run's million finishers celebrations but hundreds more are needed, organisers have said.

The celebrations featuring dancing, floating sculptures and music from Mark Knopfler, are being planned for the quayside at Newcastle and Gateshead to mark one million people completing the run on 4 September.

Organisers said volunteers would play a big part in the show.
