Millennium Bridge: 15 years since River Tyne journey
The Millennium Bridge is celebrating 15 years since it was floated up the River Tyne and carefully secured into place between Newcastle and Gateshead.
Back in November 2000, the world's largest floating crane, Asian Hercules 11, gently manoeuvred the main span of the bridge to its final position on the Quayside.
The £22m bridge, nicknamed The Blinking Eye, is now widely recognised as one of the most artistic structures in the world.
