Veterans fight to save Durham Light Infantry Museum

War veterans and campaigners trying to save Durham's Light Infantry Museum from closure say the fight will go on despite a setback.

The local authority was due to discuss calls for a public consultation on the museum and possibly delay its plans for closure during a council meeting, but it ran out of time so the debate did not take place.

The museum is now scheduled to close in April. It's collection will be relocated to Spennymoor and temporary exhibitions held at Durham University.

A protest was held outside the meeting at County Hall. Campaigner Peter Bell said the closure plans were nothing short of a disgrace.
