Surgeons in Newcastle give South Shields girl new heart
The family of a four-year-old South Shields girl are hoping she can recover from her second heart transplant.
Llana Qazi was given her first heart back in February 2012 when she was nine months old.
But she nearly died when she suffered a cardiac arrest last year, caused by a sudden rejection of the organ.
However just before Christmas, transplant surgeons at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle were able to give Llana a second new heart.
Now her parents Mohammad and Shazeb are keeping everything crossed that she will go on to make a full recovery.
