Luciano Pavarotti co-stars return to Belfast theatre for anniversary

Fifty years since they performed with Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti in a production of Madame Butterfly in the Grand Opera House in Belfast, Nan Murray and Margaret Smyth have gone back to the theatre to celebrate the anniversary.

On Tuesday 7 May 1963 Luciano Pavarotti made his UK debut in a small local production of Puccini's opera.

Margaret Smyth played Kate, the American wife of Pavarotti's character, Lieutenant Pinkerton.

Nan Murray played a minor role and was also part of the chorus.

They both have fond memories of performing with the star before he made his international breakthrough.
