Gerry Adams arrest: Gerry Kelly visits leader in custody

Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly has been to visit the party's president Gerry Adams in custody, following his arrest over the 1972 murder of Jean McConville.

Speaking outside Antrim police station Mr Kelly said Mr Adams was "doing fine", but was concerned about the damage his arrest "may be doing to the image of policing".

A group of loyalist protesters gathered at the gates of the station, where they waved flags and shouted slogans as Mr Kelly made his way to speak to reporters.

Police have the power to hold Mr Adams until 20:00 BST on Sunday. Mr Kelly said he had not been told what would happen after that.
