World War One: soldiers' abandoned island

Troops returning home from World War One were promised homes "fit for heroes" by Prime Minister David Lloyd George.

Under the scheme, several homes were built on Cleenish Island in County Fermanagh, but the relocation was not a success.

Researchers have started to look into why such a remote location was chosen.
