Archive: Brian Keenan returns to Belfast after four years as a prisoner
On 24 August, 1990, Belfast man Brian Keenan was released by Islamic militant kidnappers after more than four years in captivity. He was an English teacher at the American University of Beirut when he was abducted in April 1986
Three weeks after his release, he returned to Belfast for an emotional homecoming that saw hundreds of people welcome him at Central Station.
