'Sad and tragic day' for An Garda Síochána following shooting
The head of the Irish police force has described an incident in which an on-duty police office was killed as a "terrible tragedy".
Anthony Golden, 36, a father of three, was responding to a report of a dispute at a house at Mullach Alainn near Omeath in County Louth on Sunday evening.
Speaking in Dublin, Commissioner Noirín O'Sullivan said today was a "very sad and tragic day for members of An Garda Síochána".
A second man died and a woman was critically injured in the shooting.
