Archive: Peter Robinson discusses status of IRA army council in 2008
In September 2008, DUP leader Peter Robinson spoke to the media following a meeting with the then PSNI Chief Constable Hugh Orde.
He said Mr Orde recognised that part of the IRA army council still existed, but that it was not being used for "any paramilitary or terrorist purpose".
Mr Robinson accepted Mr Orde's statement, but renewed his call for the removal of the IRA's army council.
