Sinn Féin cleared in expenses investigation

The Assembly Commission says Sinn Féin members did nothing wrong when they claimed almost £700,000 in expenses for research from a company run by the party's finance managers.

The Assembly Commission has also cleared the party of wrongdoing in paying office rent to three cultural societies.

The police examined allegations made in two BBC Spotlight programmes aired last year.

Sinn Féin had denied doing anything wrong.
