Tory membership drops a third since Cameron elected leader

The Conservative Party membership has fallen by a third since David Cameron took over as leader.

Chairman Baroness Warsi struggled to answer Andrew Neil on Wednesday's Daily Politics when he asked her for figures, but the party later replied in writing to say the 2005 level of 258,000 has fallen to 177,000 now.

Jonathan Isaby from Conservative Home claims the rising cost of being a member is one reason for the fall.
