Cable defends tuition fees plans

Tensions have re-emerged within the Liberal Democrats, ahead of Thursday's key vote in the Commons on increasing university tuition fees in England.

On Wednesday night, the deputy leader, Simon Hughes, said he would abstain, or even rebel.

The Liberal Democrat Business Secretary, Vince Cable, spoke to BBC Breakfast's Bill Turnball saying the proposals would produce a more progressive system, although he acknowledged Mr Hughes' decision was "fair".
