Party political funding: State aid or charity help?

The system of how political parties get their cash is being investigated by the Committee on Standards in Public Life.

A Conservative has suggested parties could be treated more like charities, while state funding is also often floated as an idea.

Adam Fleming finds out if these have any appeal and spoke to Conservative deputy chairman Michael Fallon, Sir Stuart Etherington from the National Council of Voluntary Organisations and Professor Justin Fisher from Brunel University.
