Parliamentary expenses rules relaxed after MPs complain

More MPs will be able to claim extra expenses for children and accommodation under relaxed rules launched on Friday.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa) made the changes in response to complaints by MPs that the system was too bureaucratic and "anti-family".

Ipsa took control of the administration of MPs' allowances last year, following the expenses scandal of 2009.
