Labour concerns over forced police retirement

More than 2,000 of the country's most experienced police officers could be forced to retire because of budget cuts, according to figures compiled by the Labour Party.

Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper has said the government is taking an "unacceptable risk" with public safety.

Ministers have said that savings can be made which will not affect front line services.
